"So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love". I Corinthians 13:13
Every year during the holiday season, we conduct small-group sessions called GriefShare. As stated before, we intentionally conduct this group during this season because Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year are three of the most challenging holidays to deal with during the death of a loved one. In grieving circles, these seasons are known as "My First". My first holiday season without my spouse, child, parent, and more.
To help you deal with your loss during this holiday season, I came across a poem written by Kathleen Hassall that I would like to share with you:
The first holiday that a loved one is in heaven is hard, Sometimes a wave of emotion will hit and it almost brings me down But I've learned that instead of fighting it or breaking down, To just let it wash over me and experience the emotions Sometimes, they come out in words, and sometimes they just Wash over me and take my breath away, but in the wake of the Emotional storm, all encompassing love remains
As you prepare for what life has in store for you today, remember to pray for those grieving and in whatever way you can, remind the person that love remains.
