"Guidelines for Decision Making"

"But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it," II Timothy 3:14

We make decisions every single day. Some of those decisions may be considered basic, while others can be life-changing and/or life-altering. As a bi-vocational pastor, I have to balance between family, church, and work all the time. There are times when I feel like I'm the central star performing a balancing act at a main event. I'm sure there are times when you, too, feel the same way.

I've personally developed some guidelines that help me make the best decision I can at the right time. For today's Discipleship Devotional, I would like to share those guidelines with each of my subscribers:

Guideline #1: Lean not to your own understanding. Take everything to God in prayer.

Guideline #2: Do not make life-changing or life-altering decisions when you are overwhelmed with emotions.

Guideline #3: Don't be afraid to step away when needed, and come back before making some decisions.

Guideline #4: Always weigh the pros and cons when making decisions.

Guideline #5: Accept the expected and unexpected consequences. If you don't like the outcome, do something constructive about it.

As you set aside time to prepare for what life has in store for you today, remember the words of Abeiku Aggrey Santana, who said, "Everything you are experiencing today is a result of a Decision you made in the past." Please carry this Discipleship Devotional in your spirit, heart, and mind.
