Walking with A Limp? Part 3
Thursday and Friday of last week I asked you a simple and direct question. I asked, are you walking with a limp? I introduced this question and stated that your answer depends on how you respond to two important questions:
- Whose leadership style are you matching, and what behaviors do you now exemplify?
- Are you proud of what you represent, or are you ashamed of it?
We explored the first question last Friday (21st). Today, let's explore the second question. I would like to start by sharing my favorite number with you, which is the number 8. Biblically, the number 8 can be defined as, "new beginnings." This number teaches us that the opportunity to start over, refresh our life-screen, and/or take a new/different direction is always available to us. When it comes to leadership, the same can apply. If you realize that you have allowed the wrong kind of leader(s) to influence your thinking and decision-making skills, it is not too late to make a change.
Are you proud of what you represent, or are you ashamed of it? If you are ashamed, please don't waste anymore of your time; do something about it. Coming to such a realization can be dissapointing and challenging, but that same realization can also be a crucial turning point in your life. If you're on the verge of such a turning point, I want to share three (3) things with you:
- Start with Forgiveness - Remember, one of the worse things you can do is refuse to forgive yourself. Start there!
- Continue in Grace - Grace is unmerritted favour. In other words, grace is something none of us deserve, but is given.
- Develop and Own Your New Brand - Remember, if you don't brand (identify) yourself, someone else will.
My core beliefs as a Christian are different from those of Buddha, but that doesn't stop me from sharing with you one of his powerful quotes. Buddha said, "No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again."
Today is your day for new beginnings.
