We are More Alike My Friends than we Are Unalike

One of the many things I miss about the military is the spirit of oneness among soldiers. No person or group is perfect, but race/color was one of the least of our worries. There's nothing like enjoying an authentic relationship with another brother or sister; the kind of relationship where people are open, honest, and real with each other. In fact, when you think about it, we often have more in common than we wish to admit. As the Lord brought these thoughts to me today, I could not help but thank Him for His authenticity; He's honest, real, and never lies. 

A powerful quote from Maya Angelou's poem entitled "Human Family" is so true. In her poem, Maya Angelou said, "We are truly more alike, my friends, than we are unalike." What a powerful statement and an awesome lesson to learn, especially today. 

I encourage you to carry Maya Angelou's words in your heart and mind. In addition, I ask you to watch the video below and put her words into action to the best of your abilities. Don't worry about others' fears and insecurities, just be the person God has called you to be.
