I can still remember some of the most harrowing experiences I endured during my Marine Corps service. For example, during boot camp, we were awakened by drill instructors, who turned on the lights every morning around 3:00 AM. From that moment, our unit had exactly one (1) minute to get fully dressed and be standing on the white line at attention. The first couple of weeks were, to say the least, exhausting because if one recruit was late, the drill instructors would make us get back in bed, turn off the lights, and do it all over again. I can remember times when our unit had to go back to bed and get up again at least three (3) to five (5) times before every recruit was on the white line standing at attention. That experience was nothing when compared to other things we had to endure; things that would horrify you if I wrote about them. At first, I thought our drill instructors were insane and loved torturing us. But with each passing day, I saw our unit become one. I started experiencing the kind of teamwork/oneness I never experienced as a civilian. With that experience and each insane experience that followed, I learned that there was a method to the madness.
If you are facing challenges that you don't understand. If you find yourself making two steps forward and then, before you know it, three steps backward. I encourage you to seek the good in every bad situation. That's not always easy; in fact, I sometimes find myself struggling with it. When you are struggling, remind yourself that there's always a method to the madness. Believe me, you may not understand the method at first, but in most cases you will.
Those military experiences I once thought were insane remain with me to this day and helped transform me into the man of God I am today. God can and will do the same for you.
Nothing is too hard for God!
